TATTINGSTONE CRICKET CLUB

1975  ONWARDS

Another good year for the club. Suffolk Alliance Section C winners.

Nigel Peartree is second player to score over a thousand in a

season with 1,092, but Paul Easton tops averages. Adrian Peartree

takes 122 wickets.

We also had a nice trip to Holkham on the North Norfolk coast

in the National village Competition.

 

 

 

1976  :    Kester Clarke resigns as Groundsman after six years

              in the post due to problems with the Playing Field

              Committee. Good win over Tuddenham in Village Cup.

              Mel Phair and Stan Padmore both take over 60 wickets.

1977  :   Neil Elford, Nigel Peartree and Paul Easton all move to

             play for teams in the Two Counties League. They are

             replaced by Dave Bland and Russ Gissing. Russ takes

             55 wickets in his first season.

           Neil and Nigel did return in later years.

1978  :  Boathouse Pavilion comes into use and improves facilities

            but reduces drastically, the size of the boundary.

            Mel top the "thousand "mark for the first time with1,015.

            Debuts for Colin Orman and Keith Isaccs.

1979  :  Suffolk Alliance Section B winners, but no promotion due

            to a league revamping.  Debuts for Gavin Bland,and John

            Oates Srn.  Graham Denny joins on full time basis.

           

1980  :  First ever club tour, Grantham is base,with three matches.

            Nick Locke is the signing of the year. He takes 71 wickets

            and scores 421 runs in first season. Dave Bland has great

            season, 996 runs and 82 wickets.  Steve Porter tops the

            batting averages whilst scoring 806 runs.

1981  :  Second club tour, same location. Suffolk Alliance Section

            "B" winners plus promotion to "A". Tolly Cup Runners Up.

            Dave and Mel both just short of a thousand runs each.

            Debuts for Rob Lea and Graham Gissing.

1982  :  First season in S.A. League Section "A", we finish fifth.

            Mel and Dave neck and neck again, both score over

            1,200 runs.  Nick Locle takes 87 wickets.  Rick Miles

            and Dick Brewster join.

1983  :  Dick Brewster and Graham Denny develope one of the

            best opening partnerships in club history.  Dick scores

            1,306 runs.  Nick Rush joins from Needham and takes

            52 wickets in his first season.
